In this third post of my blog I’m going to talk about Storytelling. Storytelling is an educational method that consist in explain stories to students. With this pedagogical resource, we can introduce the culture in the EFL classroom, for example, by explaining learners legends as the Saint Jorge one or promoting the intercultural awareness for example if we introduce other cultures in the stories as the “Reyes Magos” in Spain or “Santa” in the British countries. As well as, Malo and Bullard (2000) say in their article “Storytelling and the Emergent Reader” if we read stories to children when they are in pre-scholar stage, these learners could be successful readers in the future. But it is not the only benefit of practicing Storytelling, they say that as well as students will be success readers, if we practice storytelling, children can improve their listening and speaking ability, the use more complex sentences, literal and inferential comprehension skills, concept development,

In this second post of my blog, I am going to talk about an aim to teach and convey the culture in the EFL teaching classes. As I said in the last post, is very important teaching the culture to English Language learners to achieve that these students would be able to be empathetic with the language and understand different aspects of the new language they will acquire. In this post I will talk about Riddles. When we are talking about riddles, we are referring to one way of cultural transfer. This method is known as oral tradition. In order to convey this tradition we have two different options: speech and songs. Riddles would be classified in the former option Riddles are defined by the Cambridge Dictionary as a “type of question that describes something in a difficult and confusing way and has a clever or funny answer, often asked as a game”. In this first post of my blog I am going to present you my opinion about an education technique. The name of this technique is Translanguaging . As Garcia, Ofelia and Li Weid say in their article titled “ Translanguaging and Education ”, the term of translanguaging was coined in Welsh by Cen Williams to refer to a teaching practice of deliberately changing the language of input and the language of output. In my opinion, this technique is very useful to EFL teachers but especially to teachers who work in bilingual environments, because as Williams (2002) says, this education technique refers to using one language to reinforce the other in order to increase understanding and in order to augment the pupils activity in both languages. By this reason if the teachers of EFL in bilingual environments use this technique, they can introduce it in most of their classes, for example in Catalonia they could use this technique with Catalan, Spanish and English.
